Hello, my name is Alvin Bradley, and I am excited to declare my candidacy for the Mayor of the City of Grambling. My love for this community and the belief that good can be better has led me to my decision to run for Mayor. I believe this is a season for change and an opportunity to continue the growth and development of our City. I am married to Monica Turner Bradley with two children Adrena Bradley Mitchell (Adrian) and Alvin Bradley, Jr., and three grandchildren, Addison, Ayden, Adrian II. I am also a Deacon at New Rocky Valley Baptist Church. and proud to be a citizen of this supportive and close-knit community.
I served as a Louisiana Municipal Association and Louisiana Asset Management Pool (LAMP) member. I hold a Lifetime Membership with Grambling State University's National Alumni Association; Honorably Discharged from the United States Air Force; Received the Air Force Good Conduct Medal and the Louisiana Military Service Medal; A member of the Grambling American Legion Post 593; Team member with the Community Based Vacation Bible School (New Rocky Valley Baptist Church, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Lewis Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, and the Church of Restoration.
My wife and I relocated to Grambling where I was employed in the Grambling State University Purchasing Office as Procurement Officer for three years and the Director of Purchasing for thirty-three years and served temporarily as the Director of Deferred Maintenance for two years. In addition, I served as a Grambling City Councilman for eight years. Therefore, I have experience with the Lawrason Act which is the City Governance Authority set by the State of Louisiana for our Municipality. I am also experienced in State & Municipal Finance, State & Municipal Budgeting and State & Municipal Auditing Requirements.
I have a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and a Master’s Degree in Education Leadership from Grambling State University, A Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Computer Information Systems (CIS) from Grambling State University. Additionally, I attended Non-Commissioned Officer Leadership School while stationed at Plattsburgh Air Force Base, New York, and Administrative Specialist Training School at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Mississippi.
I pledge to 1) continue the work of building a reliable infrastructure for water and sewage that will support current and future growth. 2) To be intentional with programs within Parks and Recreations to enhance the lifestyles of the elderly, youth, and all citizens of our great city. 3) To assist and support our local business owners and attract potential new and start-up businesses to locate in our city. 4) To partner with Grambling State University on strategic initiatives for infrastructure improvement projects and business economic opportunities.
